NEWS: Desperation drips from latest smear attempt

National Party Leader John Key says Labour's latest attempt to link him to the controversial H-Fee is little more than a desperate smear less than a fortnight out from the election.

"This is a desperate attempt by the Labour Party to smear me 10 days out from the election. I have never been involved in the H-free transaction. The Serious Fraud Office Director at the time has confirmed that."

Former SFO head Charles Sturt has previously confirmed: 'Mr Key was simply one in a "vast array of innocent people, potential witnesses, in a massive fact-gathering exercise. I feel compelled to fully support the reported comments of John Key in relation to the H-Fee transaction. It should not need to be said that John Key was completely innocent of any wrongdoing whatsoever. For any politician to hint or suggest otherwise would be absolutely rubbish and pure mischief-making'.

Mr Key says the Labour Party's desperate attempt to link him with this issue again now appears to revolve around an earlier H-Fee transaction which took place in Australia while he was working for Elders in New Zealand.

"I was not involved in, or even aware of, that earlier transaction. Labour is clearly scraping the bottom of the barrel and will stop at no lie or innuendo."

Mr Key says he has previously clarified the year of his departure from Elders in the New Zealand Herald on July 19.

"I remain focussed on the issues that matter to New Zealanders. I challenge Helen Clark to do the same, and face up to her record on law and order, the economy, health and education."

We should be focused instead on Helen Clark's record of deceit - Paintergate, where she signed a painting she had no painted, and where the Police found a prima facie case of fraud, but did not prosecute -telling her driver to speed (up to 170kph) from Waimate to Christchurch to catch a flight to get to a photo opportunity at an All Balck test in Wellington, putting other motorists' lives at risk, and leaving her driver and the Police escort to be prosecuted for speeding -illegally helping herself to $800,000 of tax payers' money for her Pledge Card in 2005

9 years of a Labour Led Government is enough. Even worse a Labour - Greens - Maori Government for the next 3 years will be an absolute disaster for the country and I know of many people seriously thinking about leaving the country for good if this happens. John - you have 2 ticks from me, keep up the good work and lets celebrate a blue NZ on November 8.

When are you going to start reminding the ever-increasing numbers of green voters about the stated goals of that party, for example from their tax and monetary policy, Key Principles para 3e "Concentration of income and wealth should be discouraged and the gap between rich and poor narrowed." AKA communism.

How can we trust a party like Labour when they make a song and dance out of such non-events? We can't. You already have my vote John! Keep up the great work!

The H-fee arose from the dodgy government sell off of NZ steel to equiticorp for equiticorp shares rather than cash. The government of the day was Labour and they subsequently got burned in the courts for over 200 million dollars for their roll in the H-fee scandal. John Key's association is extremely limited. By being part of the government at the time, HC's and MCs involvement is a matter of fact. The whole affair needs to be explained to the publc again with the part Labour played exposed.

Keep up the good work Mr. Key, you are running a great campaign. We have a special interest in National as Simon Bridges happens to be a relative by marriage and we have been following his campaign as well. Success to you both, Gerald and Margaret Trimble P.O. Box 669 Walker, Minnesota, USA

I have been a labour supporter most of my life (aged 51) but of late I have been amazed at the level of personal attacks made by our current prime minister and some of her immediate senior ministers including their president. To stoup to such levels is not what New Zealand is about nor do we want to advertise this internationally. I think come election day there will a land slide victory for you John and I wish you all the best to guide NZ into the future. You have secured both my party and list vote.

What silly people they are, rushing around peeping under rocks. Why aren't they focusing on the state of the economy, the 'p' problem, trying to prevent our young doctors leaving the country, trying to make sure no more baby Nia's are given a ride in the clothes dryer. Word is they have a 'nuclear bomb' ready to go off next week, so watch out everyone. Labour is absolutely desperate to stay in power and dirty politics is their way of trying to do it.

Stem National vir 'n beter toekoms in NZ. Vote National for a better future in NZ. Labour has a sick mentality of backward thinking, retarding a Nation with a great potential, which has been stripped of its abilty to produce by International dumping of poor quality products and produce. High prices and low salaries, no mining, no industrial advancment, no protection for industry from international dumping, no worker protection but in bed with unions who are of no help, goodby to our children to Oz, Oh and imoral laws.

John, We admire your stance on staying focused on the matters that really count, and not getting involved in the unfounded accusations being thrown your way. Are we taxpayers bearing the cost of this latest labour trip to OZ by Mike Williams? #2 Adrien's comment on the Green Party policies with regard to Income leveling are valid, and need to be spelt out to voters before the election. You will have our votes on the 8th.

John and the National Team, After being totally disgusted by the recent attacks on you personally, it makes my family and I more determined to give National two ticks on the day. As for the recent H-Fee smear, I certainly hope that the next opportunity you have on the subject you remind the voting public which govt was complicit at the time. Best of luck on election day, we look forward to celebrating a victory. Regards
