The National-led Government's fifth Budget, which we released to New Zealand last week, has been extremely well received.  That's because it delivers in the areas that matter, and it supports our families who need it most.

When I spoke in Parliament on the Budget last week, it was great to have the chance to talk about our success in Government.  I also took the Opportunity to point out that the opposition have adopted our mixed ownership policy as their own.

When National came into office in 2008, we inherited a health service in crisis.  We've turned this around.  At the end of the day, the health of our families, and especially our children is important to all of us.

As Prime Minister, I'm proud that we've been able to protect and grow our health service at a time when many other developed nations are freezing or even reducing their investment in public health.

I've just returned from a very successful visit to four Latin American countries - Mexico, Columbia, Chile, and Brazil.  My nine day visit, alongside 22 large Kiwi companies, was a chance for me to build connections with this part of the world.  This will help Kiwi exporters and businesses get a foot in the door in the region.

Using my connections with world leaders is one of the most important things I can do as Prime Minister to help Kiwi companies grow, invest, and succeed.  When our exporters are doing well, they employ more New Zealanders, providing a much-needed boost to our economy.

Next month, I'm off to China, where I plan to do the same thing - build on the already strong relationship between our two countries, underpinned by our free trade agreement.

The National-led Government is on track with our Government Share Offer programme, which we campaigned on at the last election. This will give Kiwis a chance to invest in big New Zealand companies. The Government will raise money to build public assets such as schools and hospitals without borrowing more.

"The Crown is considering offering shares to the public in one or more of the Mixed Ownership Model Companies. No money is currently being sought and no applications for shares will be accepted or money received until after an investment statement containing information about the relevant offer of shares is available. It is intended that an application will be made to NZX Limited to list each of the Mixed Ownership Model Companies on the NZX Main Board. In each case, the application will be made at the time that shares in that company are offered to the public. No such applications have yet been made."
